Following on my previous post as to getting some big trips in which the wider membership base of each society can come together in a national type event (see this topic (http://forums.secularportal.com/showthread.php?t=27&highlight=London)), I thought I would outline some initial plans.

We're looking at organising it for the middle of July just before the schools break up. It is probably going to run Friday - Sunday and take place somewhere roughly in the middle of the country so that it is within a sensible distance for everyone.

What we really need from everyone else is an idea of how many people are interested in this both in terms of what societies and how many people each society thinks they can bring.

It would also be useful to get an idea of how people are getting there so we can work out how focused we need to be on getting somewhere with public transport access and also any other feedback such as suggested stuff to do, etc. We have quite a few ideas knocking around but more ideas are always welcome.

It's unlikely I'd be able to go, I'll be working all summer with any luck.

To be perfectly frank I'm wondering if we're running before we can walk. Is this something we should be considering for this year?

I don't plan anything massively extravagant this year. It will literally be a weekend camping with a few organised events like a pub trip, BBQ, etc. That's not to say it won't be a really good weekend. From experience it will make it a lot easier to run a big event this year if we can get the experience of running the event on a lot smaller scale this year as we're doing with the annual conference.

I like the idea very much.
Personally, I will be out of the country in mid July (10 to 21st) but if I was around, I would try to go.
Great idea Chris!
