Believe it or not people send it me, either Christians who are bent on converting me - at the last count there were about six of them actively praying for my salvation, or from fellow free thinkers who just find it funny!

They're becoming increasingly common. Add to that the fact that both Hillary and Obama have refused to attend a science conference and chose instead to go to the Compassion Forums (religious stuff), and they're becoming more prestigious too.

I'll introduce you to some people next week.
We sure this isn't a hoax?

Not 100%. The background research I have done seems to suggest that the people (the professors etc) are real and have published "scientific" papers. I can't find much info on the event itself - though the group of Christians involved are not known for their openness.
Even if it is a hoax, the fact the hoax exists will influence people!

Jeez, calm down guys - this is a pisstake. Can we concentrate on/be outraged about something more important?
P.S. Evidence? (http://www.cafepress.com/objectivemin.20214784)

You think the fact that it is tongue in cheek would stop it being used as evidence for Christians? That they use it in their everyday spiels about why they are right is the fundamental problem.
I have come across evangelical Christians who will literally spurt anything that demonstrates their ideals - regardless of validity. The fact it that the hoax worked. There is a community on Facebook that believe it - the source I received it from was actually a non-believer who was taken in by it!!
Things like this are some of the reasons that Christians believe what they believe!!

I wish it worked like that! You would imagine that a 'sane' person would also question Mary having a child without having sex first, or that a dead man rose from the dead after three days and floating off into the sky...
If they believe that stuff why wouldn't they believe this?

Joke websites taking the piss?! What exactly is it about the joke website that they're using to 'prove' they're right?

Ive discoverd what happened ...
Mary was date raped by God .. therfore doesnt remember having sex!
Everyone was high as fuck (or schizo) so they /thought/ they saw a dead man walking.
OR .. Jesus didnt actually die, he got a mate to die for him (bastard) and then made everyone believe he'd come back from the dead, when he never really died!
(Mmm .. gotta love my way of thinking :-\)

Love it!
I especially love these;
'Cassidy Turnbull (grade 5) presented her uncle, Steve. She also showed photographs of monkeys and invited fairgoers to note the differences between her uncle and the monkeys. She tried to feed her uncle bananas, but he declined to eat them. Cassidy has conclusively shown that her uncle is no monkey'
and
'Patricia Lewis (grade 8) did an experiment to see if life can evolve from non-life. Patricia placed all the non-living ingredients of life - carbon (a charcoal briquet), purified water, and assorted minerals (a multi-vitamin) - into a sealed glass jar. The jar was left undisturbed, being exposed only to sunlight, for three weeks. (Patricia also prayed to God not to do anything miraculous during the course of the experiment, so as not to disqualify the findings.) No life evolved. This shows that life cannot come from non-life through natural processes.'
I have to say people, I'm convinced. Perhaps this Atheism thing isn't the truth after all?
