Any advice on starting a brand new on-campus Humanist society ?

Cheers

Make sure you get some other committed committee members. Three people can do a hell of a lot between them. Make your constitution fairly open so it gets through the union council. Submit it soon so it gets through by the end of the year so you're ready for fresher's week. Get a website up and running, lots of people find societies via the web rather than at the union / fresher's / etc these days. Get affiliated with the BHA so they promote you and you can use their logo, etc.

That's what I can come up with off the top of my head lol, hope that helps.

After all that, Fresher's Week will be important because after everyone starts socialising they won't want to be taking away valuable drinking time by joining new societies, so you've got to hook them in early with fun stuff.

I hope we can soon refer this question to our own wiki!
This thread should soon become a sticky thread and
http://wiki.secularportal.com/
should be of use.

For now, see if there is anything in the resources section of the wiki and of the secular portal that can help.
