I was helping out at the Cheltenham Science Festival and found out about a protest outside. Wondering what anyone would want to protest at I wondered outside to speak to them.
Two lovely old people told me that they weren't against science, just *bad science*. You know, bad science like radio carbon dating and evolution and other science that doens't support the bible. They agreed with the general view that the earth was 6000 years old and as soon as they started asking if my soul was saved I left them to it.

How can they start calling us all *militant*atheists when they're protesting at kids science fairs?

What a bunch of gangsters. What can you do though, beyond point them to BadScience.net for a better definition.

How to combat a protest? Have a bigger protest happen 2 blocks away, saying exactly the opposite!

If it's just 2 old people couldn't you invite them for coffee and discussion? Preferably somewhere not too close to the venue. That would get rid of the protest. Then you just need to lose them in the coffee place.

I'm yet to find an ideological or theological difference that can't be solved by a nice cup of tea and a sit down
