Does your society want to host the 2009 AHS national conference?

The tendering process is now open so if you are interested in hosting it you have until the end of the month to make a submission.

Full guidelines as to what to include in your tender can be found in the guide published on the national conference page of the AHS website:

Are the dates in that document final? This is right in the middle of the exams for Warwick and i'm guessing for other universities as well. I would struggle to attend let alone be able to host the conference.

When do you exams finish? The dates of the conference are not final, they can be decided by negotiation - ie the tender will put forward available dates and then can be judged by the Trustees as to whether they are suitable.

Basically we need to make sure that the conference is after exams but before everyone leaves for summer.

The only important dates in there that we need to try and stick to are the submission dates as we need to make sure the host has enough time to plan.

As has been said, the dates are designed to be after everyone's exams have finished but before everyone disappears for summer - most universities finish their exams at the end of May so there was some buffer added. Basically, it's the same date as it was last year, adjusted for this year's academic calendar. Again, as has been said, it is possible for you to request an alternative date in your tender.

When and where is the conference then? I thought it was going to be announced today. I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but we up here in Aberdeen need notice, so we can book tickets and places to stay without it being prohibitally expensive, and also so we can arrange time off work.

Sorry, I've been at work since yesterday morning,

We're pleased to announce the conference will be hosted by Warwick this year, they will be publishing suggestions and guidance on accommodation shortly. The date has also been changed to June 19th - 21st.
