How is everyone's freshers' week going?

We had ours last week and it was amazing. The pub crawl was poorely attended but throughout the week we signed a lot of people up (Norm will have the official number no doubt) and our Make Your Own God event when down an absolute storm.

54 new or returning members (not including committee) as of the end of last week! That doesn't include the new people we got at the Intro Meeting last night where we converted everybody! Seriously, everyone that came to the meeting that hadn't joined previously paid up there and then! I am reliably informed that was around 12 new people! So, with committee, that outs membership around the 70-75 mark!

Our Fresher's Week has been a storming success too! Our Climbing Mount Improbable event was fairly poorly attended but a good laugh nonetheless, but we got 12 pages of email addresses for our mailing list at the societies fair alone, that's like 4 times how many we got last year! We're still in the process of turning those into proper members (as far as membership goes we're one of the most lax societies I've ever come across - not sure if that's a good or bad thing), whilst we prepare our programme of events for semester 1. First event is "Evolution: Creationist Myths Dispelled", which'll be this time next week!

Still planning events.... That is laissez-faire :P

Our events planning was finalised in June, though has undergone some adjustments. We have to get it doen so soon as funding applications go in over the summer and we need to have the timetable sorted to get room bookings etc.

It's difficult here, I was finished and back home on Merseyside by... 11th May. We're not gonna be planning events quite that far ahead, I don't think. Fortunately it's easy enough to get things done on short notice here, room bookings are very helpful, and you can apply for funding at any time of year.
